Best Photo
1. Describe and discuss the composition of your best photo.
The photo shows the shape of the rounded pillar in compare to the lines of the wood on the playground, demonstrating line and shape within the image. The picture also portrays texture in the center pillar of all the little spots and imperfections of it. This photo also shows point of view. The way that I took the photo behind the pillar so close up enough that you can see the top of it clearly but at the same time the attention isn't taken away from the blurred playground in the background. It also shows distance and depth in the photo because of the distance from the playground to the pillar and how far away the photo makes it seem from one another.
2. Describe the camera settings that you might have used for the photo if you were shooting on a DSLR camera.
In this photo, the ISO would have been somewhere between 800 and 1600 as it was beginning to get dark outside and the sun was setting. The white balance would have been cloudy, twilight, sunset because at the time I was taking the photo, the sun was setting and the dark was beginning to come into the sky. Due to the blur in the background and the focus on the center pillar, I can assume that the shutter speed would have been 1/50 and the aperture f/1.8 to gain that affect.
3. What makes this photo your best or most interesting photo? Are there any "extra" elements or aspects of the photo keep the viewer engaged or interested?
I believe the photo's sunset line in the background that divides the sky and the playground adds an extra aspect to the photo. It's color brings out the darkness of the sky and the playground and brings out the blurry outline of the trees in the background.
